Lewis and Clark Edges Lincoln Trail 1-0 in Region 24 Battle
GODFREY, Ill. — Lewis and Clark Community College secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Lincoln Trail College on Wednesday afternoon in Region 24 play, with freshman forward Rezik Dahbor delivering the decisive goal that lifted the Trailblazers to another crucial conference win.
The tightly contested match tested both teams defensively, but Lewis and Clark's organization and persistence ultimately made the difference. Dahbor's goal came in the first half, finishing off a well-worked attacking sequence that broke through Lincoln Trail's compact back line.
With the win, the Trailblazers remain firmly in contention for the top spot in the Region 24 standings. Head coach John Dunn praised his squad's resilience and collective effort, especially as several key players returned from recent injuries.
"It was a really tough game," Dunn said. "We needed guys to step up as we had several coming back from knocks, so we really needed the whole squad. I'm really proud of the guys."
The victory also gives Lewis and Clark valuable momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season. The Trailblazers will now face Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC) twice to close out region play, matchups that will determine seeding for the postseason tournament.
"We have two more games against SWIC, and we need to win both to guarantee ourselves the top spot in the region," Dunn added. "SWIC is always well-coached and organized, so I know we're in for a tough couple of games."
Lewis and Clark will take the field on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. against SWIC. A win would move the Trailblazers one step closer to securing the No. 1 seed heading into postseason play and continuing their strong run of form.
