Lewis and Clark Volleyball Falls to Illinois Central in Tough Matchup
GODFREY, Ill.- Lewis and Clark Community College's volleyball team struggled to find its rhythm Wednesday night, falling to Illinois Central College in a challenging matchup.
Head Coach Jenna Brown said the team didn't come out with the energy and urgency needed against a strong ICC program.
"ICC is a strong program and plays a clean and simple game. We didn't come out with spark and urgency, and we struggled to be in control and score points consistently," she said.
Despite having a clear game plan focused on maintaining control of the ball and limiting unforced errors, the team was unable to get all the pieces to connect.
"We had a game plan of staying in control of the ball and our play. One of our big goals is limiting our unforced errors. Unfortunately, tonight we could get all the pieces to connect," Brown added.
Coach Brown noted both challenges and positives from the matchup, highlighting the importance of consistency in both the physical and mental aspects of the game.
"We are a young team, and we are learning and maturing each day. As a coach, I'm continuing to reflect on ways to help build their confidence in both their physical and mental game," she said.
Looking ahead, the team will focus on reflection and preparation in practice.
"Debriefing. We have had a string of games where we haven't been playing like our usual selves, so I think it's important for the team to sit, reflect, and be real," Brown said.
Lewis and Clark will return to practice as they prepare for their next matchup, aiming to strengthen both their mental and physical consistency on the court.
